Squeezed light from spin-squeezed atoms.
We propose to transfer quantum correlations from atoms to light by Raman scattering of a strong laser pulse on a spin-squeezed atomic sample. We prove that the emission is restricted to a single field mode which perfectly inherits the quantum correlations of the atomic system.

We demonstrate a light-shot-noise-limited magnetometer based on the Faraday effect in a hot unpolarized ensemble of rubidium atoms. By using off-resonant, polarization-squeezed probe light, we improve the sensitivity of the magnetometer by 3.2 dB. The technique could improve the sensitivity of the most advanced magnetometers and quantum nondemolition measurements of atomic spin ensembles.
متن کاملSqueezed Sates of Light
Over the past centuries, the physics community has seen much disagreement about the true nature of light. One camp of physicists, pointing to interference experiments, insisted on a wave nature; the other, citing experiments involving the interaction between light and matter, believed in a particle nature. Today, we know that both parties were right; light is an entity that exhibits both partic...
متن کاملSqueezed light from conventionally pumped multilevel lasers.
We calculate amplitude squeezing spectra for the light from a variety of conventionally pumped three- and four-level lasers. Hence we extend a recent prediction that a certain three-level laser can generate nonclassical light without the need for rigged pumping.
متن کاملTemporal imaging with squeezed light.
We generalize the scheme of conventional temporal imaging to quantum temporal imaging viable for nonclassical states of light. As an example, we apply our scheme to temporally broadband squeezed light and demonstrate a possibility of its noiseless magnification. In particular, we show that one can magnify by a given factor the coherence time of squeezed light and match it to the response time o...
